Piacenza’s old town centre will host the fourth Gola Gola! Food & People Festival, featuring a series of food events – such as cooking shows, tastings, markets selling local specialties, and debates – that also explore history, art, science, literature, poetry, economy, music and much else besides.

The aim of the festival is to promote Piacenza’s strategic role as a leading city in Italy’s gastronomic scenario.

For Piacenza and its vast surroundings, the Gola Gola! Food & People Festival represents an important means to market the area, resulting in a positive impact on tourism and on the economy of an entire system.

The festival will focus on three main topics: “Territorio”, namely the local area and terroir, which will give priority and visibility to Piacenza-area restaurants, to its three Protected Designation of Origin, or PDO, products (salami, pancetta and coppa), and to its local wines, and will also include the specialities of the “Destinazione Emilia” zone covering the provinces of Piacenza, Parma and Reggio Emilia; “Giovani”, signifying young people, which encompasses farmers, sommeliers, and managers of food industries, all under the age of 35, as well as young chefs and sous-chefs; and lastly “Vivi bene, vivi buono”, meaning Live well, live good, which will focus on best-practice issues such as the dietary choices required to remain in good health, and ethical and sustainable choices to counter waste.
